A varied menu this weekend

Heavy fog lingers in the wee hours, mushrooms are being picked by the shovelful, Indian summer has chosen other parts of Europe to settle in this year…in short, autumn is stretching its wings.

But not enough yet to cool down the ardour of the motorsports fans who are meeting this weekend at the next-to-last event of the season.

This year the Racing Festival will feature British and Dutch guests in addition to our compatriots subscribed to the series, from the Dunlop Special Open Trophy and driving a Saker, an Ultima, a Radical, an Aero and a Mazda MX5.

Two series are coming to us from across the Channel: the Lotus on Track Trophy (with a pair of former F1 drivers, the miraculously spared Martin Donnelly and the man who saved Niki Lauda from the flames, Arturo Merzario) where Belgian racers have shone in the past and, for the first time, the GT Cup. This competition, reserved for amateur drivers, competes with the British GT, bringing together some forty fireballs the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Dodge and KTM.

For the second time this year, our northern neighbours are heading to Francorchamps with their fleet from the Dutch Supercar Challenge. It’s a chance to see (or see again) a very eclectic lineup of cars from different championships: the V8 Star, DTM, BRL, GT, Silhouette, Tourisme. The Dutch have fun with everything on wheels, which is fun for us too. As usual, several Belgian teams and drivers are on board, and this time we are expecting to see the début of the Prime Racing Silhouette S2, with Professor Pierre-Yves Rosoux and his students Jean-Pierre Lequeux and Jean-Marc Ueberecken at the helm. We’re also looking forward to the feats of Eddy Renard’s Aston Martin GT3 Gulf BRS, which will be shouldered by FIA GT1 Henri Moser.

A fine lineup that will allow us to fill up on images just before the break between seasons.
