Panis and Belmondo incognito
They came from France, the land of the good life, to serve as luxury instructors. What’s more chic than tasting Francorchamps with a former F1 driver? Last week, France's Skoda importer had set up a little event to present a new version of the Fabia. From Liège, journalists took the schoolchildren’s route via Laroche to reach the most beautiful track in the world and see the gates of Francorchamps open to let them in. Behind a pace car, they discovered the qualities of the little Czech sportster before sitting down beside Olivier Panis or Paul Belmondo. Headspinning Francorchamps, then add an excellent meal in our wonderful Pit Brasserie. The event was a success—the journalists and Skoda's French representatives much enjoyed their trip to the Ardennes "tropics". At over 30° in the shade, the drivers weren't the only surprise!
24 Hours: Wow, what a lineup As good as chocolate-covered banana ice cream, the 24 Hours of Spa promises to be delightful. No moderation required! Last Wednesday, we already had a royal taste of what’s to come with a preparatory test day that lasted the full twenty-four hours. A good thirty cars on the track, each more beautiful than the next, the paddocks and the pit lane open to the public, and drivers still cool and approachable. And what drivers: Wendlinger, Fässler, J. Müller, Westbrook, Ortelli, Cheever, Blundell, among others for the international gang, and facing them on the Belgian lawn, you can count on fighters the likes of Leinders, Kuppens, Duez, Goossens, Vosse, Franchi, Lemeret, Bouvey, Kelders and the still sprightly José Close. All that for nothing, totally free, in our lovely "tropical" setting.
