Surrounded by an abbey site classified as one of Wallonia's outstanding heritage sites, Stavelot has the preserved façade of an 18th-century town, with its majestic Grand Place, its stone and half-timbered houses, its ruins, its alleyways and its fountains.

As the historic and cultural centre of the Haute Ardenne, the town’s beating heart is its three museums and its ongoing cultural activities, with a series of exhibitions, international music, French chanson, jazz, storytelling and theatre festivals, and major folk festivals such as the Laetare des Blancs Moussis, one of Belgium's most famous carnivals.

Once an abbey principality, the Stavelot region is home to the great Ardennes forest. From the fens between Hockai and Coo, where the beautiful Amblève really gets going, it offers magnificent scenery and dozens of kilometres of walks leading to peaceful hamlets along old paths steeped with stories.

Over the centuries, nature and man have shaped the face of the Stavelot region, a land of history and culture, but above all a land of welcome.

Situated at the confluence of the Warche and Warchenne rivers, the town of Malmedy nestles comfortably at the bottom of an valley blooming with green. Surrounded and overlooked by its many villages, Malmedy is a major tourist and cultural attraction.

The people of Malmedy are open and welcoming owing to their very festive spirit. This is probably due to the cultural upheavals that it has experienced over the course of its history as a border town. The people of Malmedy have elevated the Walloon language and their local folklore to the status of a cultural treasure, and never miss an opportunity to get together and celebrate. The colourful Malmedy calendar bears witness to this folklore, which is still very much alive. Throughout these pages devoted to local tourism, you can visit the region's countless sites and attractions. You'll get a taste of the many activities, walks and events on offer in and around the town.

The mother of all spa towns, the town of Spa, capital of the Pays des Sources region, offers an ultra-modern centre dedicated to the pleasure of the senses thanks to its ferruginous, sparkling and fresh waters. With its golf course, casino and numerous walking routes, it has something for everyone.

Since July 2021, the town of Spa has been officially included on UNESCO's World Heritage List of "Great European Spa Towns" alongside 10 other European spa towns.
