The WRC is arriving at the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps

It's official: the Belgian round of the world rally championship will come by Francorchamps on the 15th of August!

While the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps has been regularly voted for by drivers from across the entire world, and is one of the legendary tracks in motorsports, this concerned only the tarmac specialists until 2019.

Since then, the World Rallycross Championship (WRX) has become part of the calendar of events hosted by the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, alongside Formula 1 and the WEC.

A world label that is rarely contested except in the Spa loop due to its hilly profile, its fast corners, its renowned and unique Raidillon of course but also to its natural majestic setting, in the middle of pine forests in which the "vroom vroom" of motors can resound. A true gem!

Next Sunday 15th of August, it will be the turn of rally champions who have the honour of crisscrossing the area of Francorchamps. The final day of the WRC Renties Ypres Rally Belgium 2021, 8th event of the world championship, will be organised in fact around the enclosure of the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps.

A unique opportunity for rally fans, in particular Belgians, to attend* the drift passages of Hyundais, Fords and other cutting-edge Toyotas. The best of the Circuit will be on the programme: La Source, the Raidillon, Combes, Speaker’s Corner: for the Neuvilles, Tanaks, Ogiers and companions. And if Thierry Neuville has been hardly saved from the jinx these last few weeks, no one doubts that he has at heart the ability to shine in his back garden in front of a public totally won over to his side.

In fact, fans will also be making a return, for the second time in summer. The endurance stands and rallycross stadium will be open to them, as well as the Raidillon and other points on the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. They will also have a view on the support fleet and will be able to observe the effervescence of a world rallycross championship. Of course, all hosting will be done with respect for the conditions and health standards of the time.

Nathalie Maillet, CEO of the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps: “I am delighted to be able to add an FIA world rallycross championship event to the Circuit's calendar. Apart from the sporting aspect, the world media coverage of this event ensures great impact for the region. Finally, we are all delighted at the Circuit to be able to welcome the fans who have had to be extremely patient, and we'd like to thank them all!

Meeting is thus booked for the 15 August, for a new pioneering event of this Centenary year of the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps.
