The Circuit de Spa Francorchamps mourns its CEO

It is with great sadness that the team of the Spa Francorchamps circuit have been informed of the death of Nathalie Maillet, CEO. On this very sad day, the whole staff wish to present their most sincere condolences to Nathalie's family and friends. The Circuit, but also motor racing, has lost today a passionate woman, strong in her convictions and always looking to the future.

Melchior Wathelet, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps: "My thoughts are with Nathalie's family, her parents, her loved ones and her teams. I know how much this news will upset our teams and I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the entire Circuit team on behalf of the entire Board. Today, we are losing a highly respected lady, a true leader who will be greatly missed. Nathalie had become the face of the Circuit, she embodied the passion for racing that we all share.

Biography

Nathalie Maillet grew up on the track with a family of drivers. At the age of 12, she wanted to go karting, but the budget didn't allow it. After studying architecture at the University of London, England, at the age of 33, she enrolled in racing school. She won her first Fun Cup in 2006 and was runner-up in the Roadster Cup the same year, followed by several podiums. During this time, she started a successful career as an architect and opened her own architectural practice specialising in eco-architecture. She also co-organised the Nascar Whelen Euro Series - American Festival Finals and the Nascar WES International Circuit Competition Team. Nathalie Maillet was appointed CEO of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in June 2016 and has given a new dynamic to this Circuit, which despite being a hundred years old, she fearlessly moved forwards
