NEWS - Press release
The third edition of the Belgian round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship places the emphasis on innovation with two electric series, the World RX and the RX2e and a red-hot Euro RX1, which will offer amazing clashes on the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, at the heart of the Rallycross stadium and on the legendary Raidillon.
This year, the World RX goes all electric in the flagship category, the series now moving towards a more sustainable and environmentally-respectful future. These are the most powerful cars (generating 500kW - equivalent to 680bhp - and 880Nm of instant torque), offering incredible accelerations that will make for a spectacular show.
And Spa-Francorchamps will be offering twice the action on its track, presenting you with a double round (one on Saturday and one on Sunday) of the World Rallycross Championship!
The banking has been slightly modified in order to have even more spectacular overtaking. The lower part will have looser gravel, thus allowing drivers to choose their attack strategy and trajectory with the shortest line on the lower part of the banking, on a surface that is potentially more slow, or a longer and faster line by going on the outside in the upper part. To be continued….
Something else that's new: A single ticket, starting from €35, for spectators who will have access to the stands, track side, the paddocks and also to the autograph-signing sessions! They will be super-close to the action and drivers.
We are promised a great battle between Johan Kristoffersson, Niclas Grönholm and the Hansen brothers in the World RX. And the ancillary series won't be forgotten about either. The FIA RX2e Championship will be starting its penultimate round of the season and the FIA European Rallycross Championship will see its champion crowned during the final of the Euro RX1 category that will take place in Spa-Francorchamps.
The third last round of the season will be taking place after a particularly successful weekend for the Belgians taking part in the championship. At Montalegre, Kobé Pauwels, was crowned champion in his category, the Euro RX3; Enzo Ide climbed onto the highest step of the podium for the first time in the Euro RX1 and will be sure to put every effort into the battle in front of his Belgian fans. Finally, Viktor Vranckx, the new Rallycross prodigy will battle to defend his first place in the RX2e support series.
The show will be on the track but also have activities off-track for the entire family: a DJ, Kids Zone with bouncy castles and Technikids, technological animations for children offered by Technifutur. There will also be Volvo CE and Cooper Tire Europe activation including a simulator or even an illuminated, fun and interactive training wall that will allow you test your dexterity and reflexes!
Slide, contacts, getting off to a flying start; a spectacular show is guaranteed on the track and in the fan zone.
A weekend that will once again let you enjoy a great time with your family or friends at the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps.
