The countdown is almost over. This week, the 26th of 2024, will conclude with the highly anticipated CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. Since mid-March, a series of collector’s edition posters have been released to build up to the centenary running of the biggest GT race in the world. Capturing the attention of fans, these posters have put the nine manufacturers entered in this year’s race in the spotlight. They have constituted a journey through time, with the contemporary cars joined by some of the machinery that has written the history of the race. Indeed, each decade of the Ardennes classic has been featured.
The first nine posters designed by French artist Guillaume Lopez have depicted a car significant to the history of the 24 Hours alongside one of the GT3s that will tackle the centenary edition. Each has featured a few unique details: a laurel wreath for a winning car, the rain, the night, a quote from Enzo Ferrari, an anniversary, or a record. The 10th poster, however, is something quite different.
Instead of a mix between past and present, this work – shared between Guillaume Lopez and Benjamin Benéteau – propels us into the future. The Maserati MC12, winner three times between 2005 and 2008, is shown in its iconic Vitaphone livery. Alongside, we seen an evolution of the current Maserati GT2 climbing Raidillon. You will quickly notice that this car is levitating amid a futuristic environment. It also contains a number of film references: the flying Maserati inspired by the “The Fifth Element”, the De Lorean from “Back to the Future” at the foot of the Raidillon, the domes, the Star Wars craft, the Starship rocket…
You can’t help but smile at the reference to the year 2124, because it is difficult to imagine today what motorsport will be like 100 years from now. After all, who could have imagined in 1924 that the first 24-hour race organised in Belgium would take such a path? Before the following generations set a date for 2124, let's enjoy the opportunity to share this exceptional edition together. On Saturday 29 June 2024, the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa will celebrate its 100th anniversary – and we promise you an exceptional centenary vintage.
Note: Like all of the collector's edition posters, you can purchase this one on-site at an official store during race week, or from the merchandising section of the event’s official website.
