Race Ready and Roadbook are delighted to announce that a special one-off race for Historic Formula 1 cars will take place at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps during the renowned Spa Six Hours event, from 25th to 27th September.
Following the success of previous non-championship races, such as the Race Ready-promoted Estoril Classics Classic GP for Pre-1986 F1 cars, this unique race in Belgium will once again focus purely on the joy of driving, with no championship points at stake.
For teams and drivers, this event also offers the perfect way to close the historic Formula 1 cars season, as participants can compete at Spa and then travel directly to the Estoril Classics the following weekend, from 3rd to 5th October.
The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is widely regarded as one of the greatest circuits in the world, offering a challenging and exhilarating experience for drivers and an unforgettable spectacle for fans.
At the Spa Six Hours event, the appearance of historic Formula 1 cars is always one of the highlights of the weekend, attracting crowds and delivering breathtaking on-track action.
Eligible cars are all Formula 1 models built before 1986 and will be divided into two distinct classes: the Pre Ground Effect Class, for cars built before 31st December 1979 or without ground effect or a flat bottom; and the Ground Effect and Flat Bottom Class, for cars built up to 31st December 1985 featuring ground effect or a flat bottom.
The organising committee may also consider accepting other cars complying with FIA Appendix K that do not fit within these classes, if they add value to the grid.
The weekend will include two races, each lasting 20 minutes.
And Vincent Collard, of Roadbook, added:
" Where should I unleash the horses of my pre-1986 Formula 1 this weekend? ” - A typical Tuesday morning question for you? Race Ready and Roadbook have it all covered: an iconic circuit, a devoted crowd, fervent fans, lively paddocks and that unmistakable vintage spirit. And you? Just slip behind the wheel and let history thunder down the track.
